Welcome to Cappadocia ! Hosgeldiniz Kapadokyadan !

Cappadocia is the name of the region between Nigde, Eskisehir and Kayseri,

but the typical lunar fairy landscape is located between Nevsehir, Urgup and Avanos. Cappadocia is on the Central Anatolian Plateau, with nice, clean mountain air on an avarage altitude of 1500m above sea-level. About 300 km from Ankara in south-east direction. Main cities in Cappadocia are Kayseri (4,5 mln inhabitants ) and Nevsehir. Both cities have an airport, but mostly Kayseri airport is used for international flights. Nevsehir mostly server domestic flights.

HISTORY

The history of Cappadocia, which means : "Land of the beautiful horses" started millions of years ago with the eruption of the two volcanoes, that spewed out lots of ashes, which later hardened into tuff, the soft stone that you find all over Cappadocia.

Wind and rain washed parts of the tuff away and created the most beautiful and special landscape, which is recognized as a unique world-wonder today.

The earliest civilizations settled here, like the caveman Hittites, and later early Christians used the natural caves to extend them to churches, monasteries and even complete underground cities.

This unique region has a rich flora and fauna, very suitable to explore walking, per mountain bike, riding on a horseback, or if you prefer to take a jeepsafari this also can be arranged.

FAIRY LANDSCAPE

The many specially formed rock-formations are called fairy-chimneys and you can find many of these in the valleys in Cappadocia such as Ihlara valley, around Ürgüp and many other places in Kapadokya. Also in the small but very old village of Akkoy lots of cave-dwellings and even rock-cut churches can be still visited.

The fertile soil makes Cappadocia a region where crops can grow in a natural way, and there are also many wineries in the region. If you like, we can go on a wine-tasting tour.

The people in Cappadocia have an interesting history of peace and brotherhood, even as they are all from different roots.
